Bigs and Blue Water Safety
-

The Morris County Sheriffs Department invited NNJ Safe Kids / Safe Communities to their monthly Bigs and Blue program on Monday April 6, 2026.

Bigs in Blue is a one-to-one mentoring program that connects youth with police in communities throughout our nation, building strong, trusting, lasting relationships. These relationships can help children develop into confident adults and help build stronger bonds between law enforcement and the families they serve.

In preparation of the Summer of 2026, Water Safety was the hot topic on this cool spring day. The children discussed water safety in pools and open water, learned what is drowning, how to put a PFD on correctly and how to assist someone who may have fell in the water.

"The children were very attentive and listened to every water safety tip we shared", said KJ Feury the Injury Prevention Coordinator at Morristown Medical Center.

They were most excited when we fitted them with a PFD that they would keep and can utilize this summer.

We are grateful for the invitation and thank the Morris County Sheriff's Department for putting this together.
