Safe Kids New Jersey Decreases Injuries

As a nation, we have reduced the unintentional injury death rate for children 14 and under by 45 percent since 1987. In New Jersey we have reduced the unintentional death rate by 70%.

But there is some bad news as well: accidental injuries remain the number one cause of death for children ages one to 14, even though many of these deaths can be prevented. So to bring the children's accidental injury death rate down even further, Safe Kids USA has developed a 10-step checklist of safety habits that can have a major impact on keeping kids safe.
