Northern New Jersey Safe Kids / Safe Communities hosted a Child Passenger Safety Technician Course on April 2-6, 2017 at the GSK Consumer Headquarters in Warren NJ.
Twenty participants completed the course and are ready to hit the road and advocate for Child Passenger Safety.
Patty Difilippo RN, CPSTI is the first recipient of the Carl P. Valenziano MD Injury Prevention Award. Dr. Valenziano was the first Director of Trauma, Critical Care and Injury Prevention at Morristown Medical Center in 1992. Carl's vision of Injury Prevention was vibrant and innovative.
Dean Snook is the Director of Par Troy EMS and the force behind the accomplishments of the service. Dean was recognized at the 2017 Northern NJ Safe Kids / Safe Communities Awards Reception for his leadership, innovation and ability to put his team in motion.
Ethan Difinis was very excited to accept his first place honors in the Hats Off for Helmets Logo Contest sponsored by Northern NJ Safe Kids / Safe Communities, MMC and Mt. Creek. Ethan , a student at Sussex Middle School received a season pass for 2017-2018 from Mt. Creek for his efforts.
Gabby Remo a student at Morris Knolls High School was the winner of the 2nd prize in the Hats off for Helmets Contest in the High School Division. Gabby a Junior at Morris Knolls was accepted her award with her parents at the March 20th Awards Reception.
Clayton Miley a 12th grade student at High Point Regional High School was the 1st place winner of the High School Division for the 2017 Hats off for Helmets Logo Contest. Clayton was awarded a season pass to Mt. Creek for the 2017-2018 season . He was accompanied by his art teach Kelly Kuzicki.
Northern New Jersey Safe Kids / Safe Communities held its annual Awards reception on Monday March 20, 2017 in Parsippany. Nearly 100 community members gathered to give honor to our 2016 Outstanding Volunteers.
This is a good time for some household safety checks!
1. Change your batteries in your smoke and CO2 detectors.
2. Look for hazardous materials and dispose of them.
3. Discard expired medications.
Traffic Officer's Association of Essex County presented the Tim Larney Memorial Traffic Safety Education and Enforcement Award to Jackie Leach a Child Passenger Safety Instructor who works for the Injury Prevention Department of Morristown Medical Center. This was in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Child Passenger Safety Education.
Take the lead and create a Ski/Snowboard Helmet Logo that will inspire everyone to use a helmet when you ride or ski! Safe Kids Northern New Jersey, The Trauma Service of Morristown Medical Center and Mountain Creek are sponsoring this exciting contest.
Even though NJ saw only 2 major snow storms and had an unusual warm winter, students across Morris, Warren and Sussex Counties took place in the Hats Off For Helmets Ski and Snowboard Helmet Contest.
